The Hawks lost to the Avalanche 5-2, but recapping the game would just be depressing.

So let's just enjoy these two photos from the game:

Second, we have a moment between Seabs and Duncs after Seabrook's goal.

Let's analyze this for a second. Seabrook is down on one knee with his arms around Keith's neck.

I can't imagine what Seabrook would be asking Keith?

Aren't West Coast games the best? *silence*

Nothing is better than staying up late to watch the Blackhawks play. I loved staying up late on a weekday to see them get beat by the Canucks in overtime. Or how about watching Gagner have an historic eight point game in their 8-4 loss against the Oilers. Unfortunately, I missed them lose to the Flames 3-1 on Friday. I figured if I never recapped the games they never happened. Or that's just my excuse for being lazy with the blog.

Hopefully, they can keep an avalanche from happening tomorrow night when they play Colorado. I think the Hawks just need Coach Q to tell them "you is kind, you is smart, you is important" when they wake up in the morning. The Help is a great movie, by the way.

Did anyone else think it would have been more appropriate if the Sedins came out together for intros? Just to be extra creepy. Kane was mic'd up during the skills competition or he was just talking to himself on the ice. Karlsson beat Hossa in the fastest skater competition. Hossa was just answering Karlsson's prayer, since Karlsson prayed that he wanted to win fastest skater. Not only did the Blackhawks have God representing them at the All-Star game, but they also had a superhero. SUPER KANE. Hossa brought out a red cape and glasses for Kane. Forever a classic moment. All of a sudden kane scored and started to explode pucks (watch video). Kane's response to the exploding puck: "I got too strong." *insert the Superman theme song*

Doc: "Pavel Datsyuk is working some magic." JR: "Pavel Datsyuk is magic." We see Iggy smiling and somewhere an angel got its wings, perhaps multiple sets. Henrik Lundqvist jokingly yells at Marian Hossa not to pass to Marian Gaborik, that he has enough goals already. Carey Price is mic'd up in net and I'm having a hard time squealing with laughter. He trades banter with JR in the booth and somehow they start talking about the rodeo...

Carey Price makes a nice glove save and admits to checking his save out on the jumbotron: "I won't lie, I was checking myself out on the big screen." All four goalies have allowed three goals apiece now. Game is tied 6-6. Drake takes the stage to perform. Giroux attempts to trip his own teammate, Hartnell, who will donate $1,000 to charity for every #HartnellDown that occurs during the ASG. Seguin on the Sedins: "I think we smiled at each other for the first time." The game ends with Team Chara beating Team Alfredsson 12-9. Tim Thomas gets his fourth straight ASG win. Marian Gaborik is announced as the MVP.

Passes to the 2012 Blackhawks convention are officially on sale (buy here). It's your chance to have an awkward moment with your favorite player! You can finally tell Sharp he's "breathtaking," like @hockeenight did last year. Or you can just wait in an extremely long line to get your favorite player's autograph. Or it could have nothing to do with your favorite player and you can listen in on some great hockey seminars, while meeting some great Hawks fans. Plus, you can always count on it to be a weekend full of unexpected entertainment! I don't even know why I'm trying to convince since you probably already bought your ticket...

Friday night's game was full of familiar faces and some unfamiliar hair. Versteeg let his long locks flow during warm-ups, see footage here.

The Hawks and Panthers went to 4 on 4 with a high stick on Frolik and Seabrook for tripping. Former Hawk Madden returned the trip resulting in a Blackhawks power play (insert Gene Honda's voice). Kane to Toews for the Hawks first goal 1-0. Toews extended his scoring streak to four games.

Ellerby put Shaw into the boards resulting in a Blackhawks power play (insert Gene Honda voice). I can almost hear Sandstorm playing in the background. With about 16 seconds left, Keith ended the period 2-0 with a power play goal.

Kane finally scored for the Hawks 3-0. I've never seen the word "finally" used so many times at once. Brunette almost had more fun than blondes, but his goal was waved off (high stick). Florida got their pity goal and the Hawks won 3-1.

Unfortunately, it did not snow enough in Chicago to keep the Hawks from traveling to Nashville. Last night's game vs the Predators sucked. Hossa/God showed the only light in the game with two goals. The Hawks tiny winning streak ended. The Hawks are now in third place in the division. The worst part of the game came when Toews didn't return. He's day to day with with an upper body injury, read more here.

And Trotz still looks like Tweedledum and Tweedledee.

I know, I know. I'm terrible. From this moment on the blog will go back to its regular scheduled programing. Here's a quick recap on the past few games:

It was a Saturday morning cartoon, I mean game, of Hawks vs Wings. Detroit took a 2-0 lead on the power play and then Bertuzzi on a breakaway. Shaw gave the Hawks their first goal of the game. Then with about a minute left... HAWKS TIED THE GAME 2-2. You can thank God, thank Hossa for that goal. However the excitement and capitalization ended quickly. It was basically just the Wings and Crawford on the ice for overtime, which led to Detroit's 3-2 over the Hawks.

Blackhawks 4, Sharks 3:

It was all about Shaw in the Hawks win over the Sharks. He scored the game winner. It's about time Shaw was given a nickname. Here are several options provided by Twitter:

Stalberg scored his first career hat trick last night against the Blue Jackets. Invisible hats are being thrown everywhere. With Stalberg's hat trick, Bolland and Ben Fucking Smith the Blackhawks beat the Blue Jackets 5-2.

With Sharp out for a few weeks, it was time for the guys to step up. Seabrook took the first step by wearing the scarlet letter in honor of Sharpy. WHORE! Who doesn't love a good scarlet letter joke? No one? Okay... moving on. Stalberg now has to be the handsome one and the one to score goals in Sharp's absence. He fulfilled both last night.

There was a scare to start the game. Toews was hit in the head by a Keith slap shot. The replay of the hit didn't look too pretty, but it's Toews we're talking about. He came right back out to play. Toews is either super human like we all expected or God answered our prayers. It's good thing we've got Hossa on the team. Thank God. Thank Hossa.

Quick Recap: Hawks vs Flyers

It started off as a night for the youngsters, then the big boys showed up later (and I mean like 5 minutes left in the third later). However, it wasn't enough. The Hawks lost 5-4 to Flyers for their first time back at Wells Fargo Center since winning the Stanley Cup.

Hayes started off the first with a goal, which is his second NHL goal in two games. It was Shaw's first game. It's always a special moment to put on the indian head sweater for the first time. That moment didn't last very long. He didn't make it through the first five minutes of the game without getting it torn and bloody. Welcome to the NHL! Shaw cleaned off the blood and got stitched back up. He came back and scored his first NHL goal. Congrats! He was an assist away from getting the Gordie Howe Hat Trick. He did trend for the first time on Twitter, that's got to count for some kind of hat trick.

Unfortunately, the Flyers played a game of back and forth. Game was tied 2-2 halfway through the second. I blinked and the game changed 4-2 Flyers.

The last several minutes of the game: Seabrook (SSSSSSSEEEEEAAABBBBROOOK) and Kane tied the game 4-4 for the Hawks. Kane went to the box and the Flyers went to the power play. Then with about 30 seconds left the Flyers pooped in the Hawks net to take the lead and the game.

Recap: Happy Feet

The Penguins had a case of Happy Feet tonight against the Hawks. They couldn't seem to keep their feet on the ice. And it wasn't for dancing.

Time for this week's "I think that's mean." (this isn't a weekly thing, I just thought it sounded nice) Scott completely destroyed Engelland. Engelland's helmet, also, felt the anger from the Scott's fist. What did the helmet ever do to you? The beating on Engelland was for good reason. Engelland laid a nasty hit on Kruger. Some might call it a "high" hit, but I like to call it a "head" hit. Kruger was out for the rest of the game, but Engelland was not. The fight against Scott had my mom saying "I think that's mean." Well you know what's actually "mean" a dirty hit.

Personally, I only like the Penguins when they're in Santa hats and handing out gifts to little kids. The dancing cartoon ones aren't too bad either.

The Pens were leading 2-0 when the Hawks got their first goal. It looked as if Stalberg had scored, which had everyone yelling "HE FINISHED! HE FINISHED!" Unfortunately, they couldn't finish their chant, because Stalberg didn't finish. Goal went to Toews.

God and Baby Jesus teamed up for their best combination, since Christmas. Hossa and Kane had an absolutely beautiful passing play with a goal by Stalberg to finish it out. HE FINISHED! HE FINISHED! HE FINI...oh...HE DID FINISH! I bet Kane learned those moves from playing the giant pinball machine in the Chevy commercial.

For the rest of the 3rd, Stalberg acted like a kid who went on a roller coaster for the first time and wanted to ride it again and again. But instead he scored and wanted to score again and again. He was all over the net, including the post, which he hit a couple of times.

The last few minutes of the game were the kind that made you feel like you played in the game after watching it. "Wooo, we need to go hit the showers and take a nap after that one." Instead I just finally got off the couch and changed the channel.

The late surge of energy wasn't enough for the Hawks. They fell to the Penguins 3-2. In other news, Hawks fans all over the Chicago land area are recovering from heart attack symptoms.

Notes:

-Seabrooks made a quick comeback from his hit last game. He's the Beast.

...I mean he's a beast!

-Question of the day: Am I the only person that sees Matt Cooke and every time pronounces it cookie in their head?

-It just wouldn't be a game on Versus if I didn't mention Pierre McGuire. He talked to Coach Q on the bench about Kruger: "I'm not sure." And I don't want to talk to you.

-Everyone else talking to Pierre during the game: "I don't want to talk to you."

-In today's translations by me:

Announcer: "Stalberg looks to the heavens as he skates off the ice."

Me: "Stalberg looks to Hossa as he skates off the ice."

Listening to the Blackhawks play in overtime is way more nerve-racking than watching it on TV. I listened as Brunette tied the game late in the third off of Hossa's shot. Sharp won it in overtime just a couple days after the birth of his first child.

Of course, he scored for Madelyn Grace!

Hawks won 3-2 against the Sharks.

The Hawks took on the "team not cool enough to be wolves" Coyotes. It was a comeback game for the Hawks, but don't call it a comeback. They tied the game 3-3, but ended up losing to the Coyotes in a shootout. It was, also, a Toews love fest.

Toews and Kane scored to tie the game 3-3. Keith's shot on the power play was slipped in by Toews for a goal, but was immediately ruined by having to listen to Pierre McGuire during the celebration. Toews gave a beautiful pass to Kane for a goal. Kane fell during the celebration and Toews was all like, "okay let's celebrate down there!" I just have to say it again, there are good hockey players and there are great hockey players. Then there is Toews.

And then there is Sidney Crosby as a vampire. If you were a a hockey fan living under a rock today, you missed an interesting, hilarious interview with John Steigerwald. Listen here.

The Blackhawks take on the Islanders at 6 on Thursday.

Apparently, the Blackhawks prefer duck over turkey. They had a 6-5 Black Friday win against the Ducks. We had our first holiday miracle of the season: Seabrook was seen on the TV in skates, while in a uniform, on the ice. He's baaaccckkk!

Things Bobby Ryan has said and done that annoy me: 1. He doesn't like baseball 2. He gave Breaking Dawn a bad movie review 3. He scored the first goal against the Hawks. The Ducks didn't stop there, they quacked twice within a minute for a 2-0 lead.

Sharpy plucked the first feather off the duck 2-1, and it certainly wasn't his last. Selanne scored for the Ducks on the power play and the camera immediately cut to a Hawks fan shaking his head. That was the appropriate reaction. It was all Bolly bitch on the power play 3-2.

I missed some of the game. I was asked to go on a werewolf hunt with my nephew/niece. Who would go on a bear hunt when you can go on a werewolf hunt? Anyway, I came back to find out wolverine (Toews) scored. How appropriate. Oh, and Sharp was a very handsome man with the puck for a second time.

Sharp had plucked and plucked all game long, then he finally killed the turkey and served it on a platter with a hat trick! That hat trick was provided by a very handsome man. Invisible hats were flying all over the place! (One day I will not refer to Sharp's looks in a recap, but today will not be that day)

"Really honey, it's not all about you." Foley opened the Saturday's game with those words on the Kings' national anthem singer. Pat Foley started trending worldwide soon after, which made me a happy human. Brunette gave the Hawks a 1-0 lead. Sorry, I'm out of hair color jokes. If you could even call them jokes to begin with.

The Hawks needed to keep the turnovers on the Thanksgiving dessert table and off the ice. The Kings tied the game on turnovers by Seabrook and Keith. Toews contiuned his hot streak with another goal 2-1. He's on fire and it's not just that red streak on his forehead, which made an appearance during intermission. WGN had some hiccups, which eventually turned into throw up. The third was basically just a series of flashes of the game. I'm not exactly sure what happened, thanks to WGN.

"Really WGN, it's not all about you."

The Hawks won 2-1 over the Kings! But, in the end, it was really a win for all of us because we didn't have to watch WGN anymore.

1st:

Blackhawks vs Canucks games are always exciting. The 1st period of tonight's game was no different. It was fast paced and full of good chances from both teams. It was all about the Corey and the other Cory. It was a battle of goalies. Crawsome moments were happening all over the place. Bolland was back and it didn't take long for him to be reunited with Bickell and Frolik. We also learned the new term "feathered it to Stalberg." Seems everyone has their own meaning. I have a feeling a lot of fan girls wouldn't mind feathering Stalberg.

2nd:

Hansen scored about 30 seconds into the 2nd for the Canucks. Kesler tripped Stalberg for the first penalty of the game. Everyone prefers Brunettes! Brunette scored on the Hawks power play and gave me another opportunity to make a bad joke about hair color. His goal was assisted by a pass from Kruger and Montador. Keith forgot to shoot the puck, which caused about 20 tweets right after one another on my timeline of "SHOOT THE PUCK." Burrows went to the box for pulling ha...I mean slashing. Another power play goal for the Hawks! Toews (or Kane) scored just seconds into the pp 2-1. Keith saved goal (once again) on a 2 on 1. He was just showing off, since he knew Seabrook was watching closely. Stalberg had a little trouble at the end of the period or as Foley said he didn't know they were playing hockey. Coach Q ripped him a new one, there was no feathering involved this time.

3rd:

Bolland had an interesting high stick to the ear. Huge save by Crawford. Big. Huge! Now just imagine Crawford saying that as a hooker to a bitchy woman at a high end store in Beverly Hills. That's going to be awkward if you didn't catch the movie reference. Hossa got feisty with Hansen. Watch out for the wrath of God. Frolik was down for a bit, after going awkwardly into the boards. One of the Sedin bitches gave Crawford a stick to the groin. It was clearly on purpose. I'm sorry for the language, but fuck you. Seriously, screw you. Not necessary. God (Hossa) helped Wolverine (Toews) score a goal. Now that would be an interesting comic book. Sharp thought the game could use some handsome. It was starting to get ugly with all that Sedin out on the ice. I think the Canucks were trying to tell the Hawks something when they played "Fuck You" by CeeLo Green, after the Hawks fourth goal. Montador ended the game with goal in honor of Vigneault. You know how much he loves when the Blackhawks run up the score. Sorry the Blackhawks can't contain their awesomeness.

A Win And A Loss

The Blackhawks beat the Oilers 6-3 on Sunday, but they lost Seabrook to an injury. We're past the crying, now we're onto the waiting. He's day-to-day with a lower body injury. He went on the trip with the team, but probably won't play vs the Canucks tomorrow.

Toews gave the Hawk 1-0 lead in the first, then about 30 seconds later Montador scored. He also saved a goal just seconds before. Can't forget to mention his impressive celebration from down on the ice and then up. Montador had a busy first period. He saved a goal and scored a goal, then he was hit behind the net. After limping to the bench, he came back out and scored again.

We were greeted by the new Chevy commercial with Toews and Kane during intermission. The playing hockey with cars commercial was more realistic than the pinball machine graphics used in the new one. There's no better way to sell cars than hockey players playing in a giant pinball machine.

Toews furthered the Hawks lead 4-1 to begin the second. Seabrook's injury was foreshadowed when he took a stick to the face. Then Seabrook slammed into the boards awkwardly (watch the painful video here). He left the game and never came back. Keith got the Hawks fifth goal in honor of Seabrook. Duncs scoring after Seabrook left. Coincidence? I think not.

Kane wrapped up the puck, added a big red bow and passed it over to Carcillo. His empty netter gave the Hawks their 6-3 win.

Friday: Blackhawks 4 Lightning 5

The Hawks and Lightning played a game of back and forth. They scored, we scored, they scored, we scored. Looks like Hossa found his baby Jesus, Kane. They continued their magic. Carcillo also created some magic on his backhand shot to give the Hawks a 3-2 lead. Sharp was a very handsome man, but you can add a second 'very' to that handsome. He scored twice. The dads were in the crowd for the Father's Trip. I hope at least one dad yelled "THAT'S MY SON" after the goals. I don't know if you heard this or not, but Stamkos is good at hockey. He proved it with a hat trick. Apparently, the Hawks didn't know he was good. They just let him walk right up to the goal. The game ended with a Lightning strike in overtime.

Sunday: Blackhawks 2 Canucks 6

Thank you, Stalberg. Mulan's "I'll Make a Man Out of You" was stuck in my head the rest of the day. The Hawks got down to business and defeated the Panthers in a shootout 3-2.

The Blackhawks showed their dads they're men now ("Be A Man!") unlike the last dad's trip. The Hawks took a 2-0 lead with goals from Toews and Hossa. Kane had a great pass to Hossa on the second goal, while Kopecky was seen weeping in the background. Kane had a goal of his own. He won it in the shootout.

Crawford was the real hero of the game. He was also given the belt, which is pretty fancy this season.

It was Halloween night at the United Center last night. Here are a few sights and frights from Blackhawks vs Predators:

-Seabrook was seen blocking a shot, which could have been a game changer. He distracted a Predator by stealing all of his candy. I imagine he whispered "Happy Halloween Bitch" in the ear of the Predator as he was left down on the ice.

-Overtime came and it felt like I was watching a Halloween movie through my fingers waiting for the scary part to happen. I also came to the realization that Overtime is like the cat jumping out part in the scary movie. You think it's going to be scary and it ends up being just the cat, then the actually scary part comes after that. The shootout. Luckily, we didn't have to get to the scary part, because...STALBERG!!!!!!!!!!!!

-The Hawks destroyed the Predators' mailbox with a baseball bat, then smashed their pumpkins, and Stalberg lit a bag full of dog shit on fire at their doorstep. Happy Halloween from the Blackhawks!

-First star was Kane. He was seen trick or treating at the Predators' goal twice. Can you say "Pa[trick] or Treat?" (That clever little pun was all @QueenCrash)

-Trotz was seen wearing the same costume again this year (photo).

-The terrifying part: Keith left the game. He's day to day with an upper body injury.

-Some fans got into the Halloween spirit at the game. BHTV captured all the "Panda-Monium" on camera:

The Blackhawks took on the Ducks on Tuesday. The 1st ended 0-0 with a lot of close chances by the Hawks. It was the period filled of "almost." In the 2nd, Mayers protected the money maker, also known as Stalberg's face. I can't handle all the bromantic things this team does with each other. Then came the spin-o-rama heard around the world (watch the video below). The Ducks took the lead back 2-1. Another great pass by Kane, this time to Sharp, tied the game 2-2. That goal was so handsome it broke the glass. That would of been believable if they hadn't shown a replay of Seabrook's big butt breaking the glass. It was time for Overtime. The only action was Hossa's shot hitting the goal post. The goal post was against Hossa all night. It must be the devil. Ha. Ha. Ha. You know since Hossa is god and all...

KAAAAAAAANNNNNNEEEEE! It was Kane's night. He won the game for the Hawks in a shootout. The camera then immediately showed a father and daughter doing a choreographed dance to Chelsea Dagger. It was priceless.

Bobby Hull and Stan Mikita put on the tanning oil and went bronze. Their statues were unveiled before last night's game. And they're pretty badass. I wasn't expecting the red. I love it. You can watch videos from the unveiling on BHTV here.

Now just think of how weird it's going to be when we're all really old and Toews/Kane are getting their statues made out of gold.

Or diamonds.

The statues were up, then it was time to keep an Avalanche from falling onto the United Center. The Blackhawks tied the game twice with a goal from Fro Fro (Frolik) in the 2nd and another from Mayers in the 3rd. They eventually took the lead when Hossa scored towards the end of the game. But it was the Avalanche's turn to tie the game. The game went to a shootout and the Hawks lost 5-4.

When I think about last night's Blackhawks game, I think GREAT! It was just so great, that's why I named this recap great. Isn't that just great? I start to repeat myself when I can't think of what to write. Should I say great again?

Anyway...

Starters: Bickell, Bolland, Frolik, Keith, and Leddy

Goalie: Crawford

Scratches: Scott, Olesz, and Lepisto

Wise Words of the Game: "They're forever. And that's a long time." - Eddie O on the Hull and Mikita statues.

The game started with a boarding call on Hammer and the Blackhawks did nothing with the power play. The first half of the first period was just about how empty Jobing.com arena was. Did you know hockey isn't very popular in Phoenix? Did you know there's a lot of empty seats at the game? Wow, look at all those empty seats! Hey, look no one is in their seat, insert "there must be a long line for the bathroom" joke.

Bolland had a scare in the first and no he didn't catch a reflection of his own death stare in the glass. He went down for a moment, after sliding into the goal. He probably took his own advice and told himself: "keep coming, keep going, let's go." Hossa was back and the Coyotes felt the wrath of God when he gave the Hawks a 1-0 lead. The Coyotes ended the period by missing a chance on a wide open net. I guess that's what happens when you're not cool enough to be a dog or a wolf.

I insulted the Coyotes and then they tied the game. Leave it to the Captain to take the Hawks lead back with a rebound. The Coyotes tied the game again on a turnover with Keith down. Mayers got his first goal as a Hawk with a redirect on a long shot by Keith. Thankfully, the back and forth eventually stopped

Bolland fact #84: He will score on your power play. He scored a shorty with a steal in the Coyotes zone. It's Bolly bitch. Never forget.

Bick! Bick! Bickell! He gave the Hawks their final goal with a wrister. He had a beautiful helper from Frolik. I heard around town, that line is now known as the "rat pack." I like it.

Hawks win! Hawks win! Hawks win!

It was great.

Side note: @ChrisKuc (Chicago Tribune) announced, after the game, that Seabrook is engaged. Congrats to Seabrook and his girlfriend Dayna!

A starry night at the United Center for the Blackhawks. The Hawks reached for the stars in their home opener. It was all in the stars for the Blackhawks in their 5-2 win.

I just love when the Blackhawks play a team like the Stars, it brings out the cheesy sayings. I couldn't just use one, especially for an event like the home opener. The United Center rolled out the red carpet for the Hawks, which brought out the grown men pushing aside teenage girls to get a photo of their favorite player. The red carpet gives a chance for the Hawks to show off their fashion skills like Bolland and his bow tie. After the Hawks practically ran down the awkward red carpet, they showed off their real skills on the ice with a win against the Stars.

Brunette proved he ain't no dumb blonde with the Hawks first goal of the game. I'm glad he gave me the opportunity to use my bad joke so early in the season. Dowell was welcomed back to the UC by Mayers. No real winner in their fight.

Some poor soul tried to mess with Bolland and was greeted with the Bolland death stare. He doesn't throw punches, he throws daggers. He basically scared the puck into the net to give the Blackhawks a 2-0 lead.

Toews was sent to the box and wasn't too happy about it. Angry Toews always scores angry goals. He came out of the box and was greeted by a beautiful pass from Seabrook.

Who said you can't see shooting stars in the city? There was two shooting Stars seen in the United Center on Saturday. Literally.

Just two things you need to know:

1. Patrick Sharp is a very handsome man

2. Patrick Sharp's goal was a very handsome goal

The ice was taken by surprise a few too many times during the game with the stomping feet of Scott. I love Scott, but not while I'm watching hockey. Someone I do love seeing is Kane. He was a beast the entire night and doing all the right things.

Bolland ended the game with an empty netter as a way for him to say "it's Bolly bitch" to the Stars.

To conclude my song from the preview, "Catch a falling star an' put it in your pad, save the win for the home opener." And the Blackhawks redeemed themselves.

The Blackhawks are back! They started off the regular season last night with a loss to the Stars. I wasn't able to watch the game. I know, I'm a terrible person. There's no way I'm missing tonight's game or any other game for that matter (Well, unless I have class. Damn night classes). Luckily, there was a few people who did watch it and wrote about it. It's Student Discount Night at the United Center for Hawks vs Pens tonight. Any remaining seats will only be $25 for those who come with a valid student ID. Make sure to get to the ticket box early for the best seats. I highly recommend doing this. The last two times I did this I sat 10th row center ice and 6th rows behind the goal. It's also very nice of the Blackhawks. I knew there was a reason I went to college.

The injuries don't stop there. Stalberg also left the game and is out for three weeks, after he hurt his leg.

The Blackhawks have played three preseason games since their preseason opener in Saskatoon. They fell to the Pens 4-1 on Thursday, then won 3-2 vs the Capitals on Friday. Last night, they lost in a shootout to the Red Wings. I wasn't able to watch any of them, so that's why have this is the end of the update.

Hockey is back! The Blackhawks had their first preseason game tonight vs the Oilers. Most of us were glued to our computer screens, just squealing at the sight of hockey. Have I mentioned its been a long summer? The Blackhawks very nicely streamed the game on their website for us fans. Judging from the video stream, the Hawks were playing either in the late 80s or early 90s. And how about that 50/50? Unfortunately, the Hawks did not win the 50/50 nor did they win the game. They fell to the Oilers 4-2 with goals from Rostislav Olesz and Jamal Mayers. Here's a look at what the roster looked like for tonight's game: click here. Emery started in the net for the Hawks and let in two goals. Salak also saw time in the goal in the 2nd period and gave up the game winner. Stalberg had a lot of chances and played well on a line with Toews. Toews and Toews had the opportunity to play together. Who doesn't love a little brother action? It's always fun. You know what would be fun? Having Keith Seabrook play with Keith and Seabrook on the same team with Toews and Toews. Anyway, the Hawks will play the Pens in the second preseason game on Thursday.

It was Blackhawks Day at the Cell yesterday. Sharp, Seabrook, and Kane were just some of the players who came out for the game. Carcillo made his debut by throwing out the first pitch. Each player also wore a White Sox jersey: Sharp (Buehrle), Seabrook (Pierzynski), Kane (Beckham), Carcillo (Quentin), and Emery (Konerko). Before the game, they had a parade of Blackhawks fans go around the field. They also played a montage of Carcillo being an ass on the ice, but he's our ass now. The Blackhawks' statement on the plane crash that killed at least 43, including former Blackhawks players Igor Korolev and Alexander Karpovtsev:

“We stand together with the entire KHL, NHL and hockey world in mourning today’s tragic news concerning the Lokomotiv Yaroslavl hockey team. The tragedy affects the Chicago Blackhawks family directly as we mourn the losses of Alexander Karpovtsev and Igor Korolev, two players who spent time with our organization and that our fans know well. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends of the Lokomotiv Yaroslavl organization.” (source)

It was Blackhawks day at Wrigley Field yesterday. Kane showed off his baseball skills by throwing out the first pitch. He had some help singing the seventh inning stretch from Stalberg, Bolland, Hammer, and Mayers. This would be the moment where I would say some insult about the Cubs, but since both Chicago baseball teams are playing like shit, I find it unnecessary. However, you can see the boys in black and white this Saturday at the Cell for another Blackhawks night. I think black and white is a little more flattering on them then Cubbie blue, but that's just me. It's also nice seeing the boys back in town. We have the cooler weather and the Starbucks fall collection now we just need some hockey. Do I even have to ask? Is it October yet?

It's that time of year again. It's the end of summer. It's that point in the year when we're frustrated with our Chicago baseball teams. And all we wanna do is cool off with the ice of a hockey rink. The countdown to hockey season officially starts tomorrow with single game tickets going on sale. So get ready and check your calenders to see if there's a game on your birthday, when your second favorite team is coming into town, and how many tickets you can buy without spending all of your life savings.
